People First is the solution.
There is hope. It’s a slim hope, and the odds are long against us, but the People First movement holds the keys to breaking the stranglehold that political parties hold over our governance, returning power to the people, and restoring our nation to the path our Founding Fathers set in motion two and a quarter centuries ago.
The People First movement is dedicated to four main principles, which are:
1. Elect candidates for public office who have demonstrated character, ability, and integrity, whose loyalties lie with the well being of our nation and its people, and whose priorities place people and country above self;
2. Break the stranglehold of the party system, “big money” special interests, and quid pro quo politics, and return true power to the voters;
3. Enable the voters to vote intelligently—in alignment with their own best interests—and to see through the obfuscations of the parties, the press, and self-serving candidates; and
4. Return the nation’s legislative processes to service for the people, rather than power politics.
People First will support candidates for public office who have been thoroughly investigated and vetted for the characteristics aligned with People First principles, and who are not associated with a political party.
The People First movement will register vast numbers of voters—millions of us—thus forming the only legitimate power base that can rightly be called American—we the people. That power base will support People First candidates, not because they’ve joined a party and gotten locked in to its mandates, but because they believe in People First principles, and want elected leaders who will serve the best interests of the people.
The People First foundation will raise funds for the effort, however all funds used to support candidates will be uncoupled from the candidates themselves, in the same way that a computer “firewall” separates viruses and other malware from your computer’s operation. This uncoupling will prevent the corruption caused by quid pro quo politics because donors will donate to People First not to any candidate. The only donors we’ll get will be individuals or organizations who believe in People First principles.
People First is not a political party, or anything like one. We have no platform, and we neither support nor oppose political positions. We want to get the best, most responsible people into office and trust them to work in the best interests of the American people. We will trust our elected leaders to be people of character, integrity, and ability because we have vetted them, and their words and actions have been proven trustworthy. We will trust them to identify the problems and opportunities that face our nation, and to work the legislative processes in ways that solve the problems and take advantage of the opportunities, above and beyond their personal interests. Statesmanship, rather than self-service will again become the hallmark of our elected leaders.
A Fierce Battle
It won’t be easy. Political parties are fierce fighters with enormous resources at their disposal. Their supporters are even more powerful, with trillions of dollars to spend preserving their interests. They own or command enormous communications resources, and have no hesitancy about telling very convincing, yet misleading stories to the world, in order to get their way. They’re like a very large animal fighting for its existence, and they won’t go quietly.
The only hope People First has is the fact that “right makes might” The only right way for America to govern itself is through the might of the people, and the only way to energize the people is to cut through the false promises and misleading statements pouring out of the party system and the vested interests that support it.
In the end, the American people need to see how the party system and its many supporting special interests have become the dominant force in our governance, for their own benefit and to the detriment of the people. When that becomes clear, our citizens will, at long last, become the “informed voters” we so desperately need, voting for candidates of character, ability, and integrity, which we even more desperately need.
It’s really simple. We need good, smart, servants of the people to lead us. If we get them, we’ll be in great shape to meet the challenges of today and the future.
The People First movement is the solution.
Are you an independent voter?
Are you sick and tired of being disenfranchised by political parties?
Our Constitution was designed to protect individual rights—among them, independent thought, independent voting, and independent speech. Political parties do the opposite—they discourage individual thought, marginalize independent voting, and do their best to suppress independent speech in favor of a party platform.
It appears that the parties can’t be beaten. They’re too strong. They’re too entrenched. They have too many powerful supporters. But they must be defeated or the dysfunction that has taken over our nation’s capital will get worse.
There is a way. Independent voters outnumber any of the parties by a margin of at least two-to-one, but independents have no power base, and no infrastructure to support them…until now. The People First movement, at long last, provides the power base and the infrastructure.
People First will give independent voters back their voices.
